Boyd CurranChief Executive Officer

Boyd Curran is Chief Executive Officer of Beyond Billabong and a passionate advocate for the empowerment of disadvantaged Australians. Boyd established Beyond Billabong in 2009 following his work at the Lawn Hill and Riversleigh Pastoral Holding Company (LHRPHC) in north west Queensland, a partnership between the Waanyi people and MMG Century Mine. Boyd was asked to establish the cattle operations in 1999 and was subsequently appointed Chief Operating Officer of LHRPHC. In this role he drove the expansion of the business into a commercial powerhouse whilst fulfilling the company’s social obligations to its Indigenous shareholders.

The program was recognised for its outstanding achievement in 2007 with LHRPHC receiving the Queensland Premier’s Employment and Training Award at the Queensland Reconciliation Awards. In 2009, Boyd was encouraged by the then Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations to establish a company that would specialise in delivering life-skills and pre-vocational training programs to Australians whose access to mainstream opportunities and resources was limited.

In recognition of his work in youth advocacy, Boyd was awarded the prestigious Winston Churchill Fellowship in 2010 to undertake study abroad into programs aimed at empowering disadvantaged Indigenous youth to improve their life choices and employment opportunities. Boyd is married with three children and currently serves on the Queensland Rugby Union Nominations Committee.
